ATTN: There are repackaged clones of Flappy Bird in 3rd party markets that are malware.
Hackers have taken advantage of the fact that#FlappyBird has been pulled from the major app stores and people have flocked to 3rd party sites to download the app. Our CM Behavior Cloud (the backbone of our antivirus capabilities within Clean Master) has detected malware in the repackaged copycats. Luckily, all youClean Master 4.2 and higher users are already protected.
If you know anyone that has downloaded Flappy Bird from outside Google Play, we urge them to install Clean Master, which will detect and provide a pop up to remove the malware immediately upon installation.
The Flappy Bird malware copycat uploads users personal information such as IMEI, phone number, email accounts and other sensitive information. Furthermore, it includes an SDK from a Vietnamese ad network called Adflex, which is a very sophisticated bit of malware itself that does things like mine your private data and insert ads outside the app itself such as on your notification bar.
We apologize if this appears to be a scare tactic. Given the recent surge in demand for Flappy Bird and sudden removal from app stores, this is a major hacker opportunity because the 3rd party platforms are largely unpoliced. We quickly discovered this new threat and wish to alert the general public.
